Accreditation

What is accreditation in general practice?

General practice accreditation is independent certification of compliance in meeting the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) Standards for general practices. Our accreditation body is GPA.

The GPA ACCREDITATION plus program (GPA) is operated by Quality Practice Accreditation Pty Ltd (QPA). GPA was introduced in 1999 in order to provide general practices in Australia with a choice of accreditation provider.

Why be accredited?

General practice accreditation is independent recognition that our practice is committed to delivering safe and high quality health care to our patients. We have to meet a high standard with regard to clinical services, internal administration, safety, sterilisation and infection control, patient rights, risk assessment and continual quality improvement.

The GPA accreditation program is an industry mark of quality and lets our patients know that they are attending a practice delivering high quality healthcare in a safe environment.

Why should a patient look for an accredited practice?

Accreditation is a voluntary process – many patients are surprised to learn this. Choosing an accredited practice means our patients can choose to attend a practice that meets the highest standards in general practice healthcare. That means comfort and assurance for patients in knowing your practice is meeting the high level of standards required to gain accreditation.
